These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the cook compass website, web application, and related services available at cookcompassai.com (collectively, the “Service”).

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About cook compass

cook compass provides AI-powered tools that help users generate recipes, meal ideas, and general cooking and nutrition information.

In these Terms, “cook compass,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to cook compass.

2. Eligibility and Minors

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Service.

If you are under the age at which you may legally enter into a contract where you live, you may use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. A minor may not purchase a subscription without the authorization of a parent or legal guardian.

Parents and legal guardians are responsible for supervising a minor’s use of the Service. The Service should not be used to make medical, developmental, weight-management, or therapeutic dietary decisions for a minor without advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account.

3. Your Account

You must create an account to access certain features.

You agree to:

provide accurate, current, and complete account information;
keep your login credentials confidential;
not share, sell, or transfer your account;
promptly update your information when it changes; and
notify us promptly if you believe that your account has been accessed without authorization.

You are responsible for activity conducted through your account to the extent that the activity results from your actions or your failure to take reasonable measures to protect your account.

We may ask you to verify your email address, identity, or account ownership when reasonably necessary to protect the Service or respond to an account request.

4. Description of the Service

cook compass may allow you to:

generate recipes and meal ideas using artificial intelligence;
enter ingredients and cooking preferences;
select dietary preferences, such as vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, or low-carbohydrate preferences;
upload text or images;
receive estimated nutrition, portion, ingredient, or cooking information; and
save, view, or manage generated content.

Features may vary depending on your subscription plan, available credits, location, device, or changes to the Service.

Dietary labels are preference-based suggestions. They are not religious, medical, safety, or third-party certifications. In particular, a recipe described as halal or kosher is not guaranteed to satisfy every religious authority, certification standard, sourcing rule, or preparation requirement.

5. AI-Generated Content

Some or all recipes, meal ideas, ingredient suggestions, nutritional information, and other results are generated automatically using artificial intelligence (“AI Output”).

AI Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, inconsistent, or unsuitable for you. AI may misunderstand your request, fail to recognize an ingredient, suggest an inappropriate substitution, or provide incorrect nutrition, cooking time, temperature, or food-safety information.

We do not guarantee that AI Output:

is accurate, complete, safe, or suitable for a particular purpose;
correctly identifies food, ingredients, or quantities shown in an image;
complies with every dietary or religious restriction;
identifies every allergen, intolerance, or cross-contamination risk;
contains accurate calorie, nutrient, portion, or cooking information;
is original, unique, copyrightable, or different from content provided to other users; or
does not resemble content created by or available from a third party.

You must review and verify AI Output before relying on, preparing, publishing, or sharing it.

6. General Nutrition Information Only

The Service provides general cooking, lifestyle, and nutrition information. It does not provide medical advice, medical nutrition therapy, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, or emergency services.

cook compass is not a doctor, registered dietitian, nutritionist, therapist, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional. Use of the Service does not create a doctor-patient, dietitian-client, or other professional relationship.

You must not use the Service to:

diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent a disease or medical condition;
replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional;
determine or change medication or supplement use;
make emergency medical decisions; or
calculate medication doses, including insulin doses.

Do not disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of information provided by the Service.

7. Medical Emergencies

cook compass does not provide emergency assistance.

If you believe that you or another person may be experiencing a medical emergency, immediately contact the emergency services available in your location. Do not wait for or rely on a response from cook compass.

8. Allergies, Intolerances, and Cross-Contamination

AI may fail to identify an allergen, an alternative ingredient name, a derivative, a processing aid, or a risk of cross-contamination. Product ingredients and manufacturing methods may also change without being reflected in the Service.

Before preparing or consuming any food, you must:

read the current ingredient list and allergen warning on the product packaging;
verify ingredients and substitutions independently;
consider possible cross-contamination during manufacturing, storage, and preparation; and
contact the manufacturer or a qualified professional if you are uncertain.

Ingredient substitutions can materially change the allergen profile, nutritional content, and safety of a recipe.

If you have a serious or life-threatening food allergy, you must not rely solely on the Service to determine whether an ingredient, product, or recipe is safe.

9. Food Preparation and Safety

You are responsible for selecting appropriate ingredients and safely storing, handling, preparing, and cooking food.

You should follow applicable public-health guidance, product instructions, use-by dates, hygiene requirements, refrigeration requirements, and minimum internal cooking temperatures.

Cooking times and temperatures provided by the Service are estimates. Actual requirements may vary depending on the appliance, altitude, ingredient size, starting temperature, and other conditions. Where appropriate, use a food thermometer to confirm that food has reached a safe internal temperature.

Do not consume an ingredient that appears spoiled, contaminated, improperly stored, or unsafe, even if the Service recommends it.

10. Nutrition and Portion Estimates

Calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, serving sizes, portion sizes, cooking times, and other measurements provided through the Service are estimates.

Actual values may vary depending on:

ingredient brands and formulations;
measurement methods;
substitutions;
portion sizes;
ripeness and preparation;
cooking methods and nutrient loss; and
incomplete or inaccurate source data.

You should not rely on these estimates as the sole basis for medical treatment, medication dosing, or management of a health condition.

11. Users With Special Health or Nutrition Needs

Consult a qualified healthcare professional before following AI-generated recipes or meal suggestions if you:

are pregnant or breastfeeding;
are under 18 or an older adult;
are underweight or have significant weight changes;
have diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, or another chronic condition;
take medication that may interact with food or changes in diet;
have significant allergies or food intolerances;
have special clinical nutrition requirements; or
have any other condition that may be affected by diet.

The Service is not designed to create or supervise clinical diets for high-risk users.

12. Eating Disorders

The Service is not an eating-disorder screening, diagnosis, or treatment service.

If you have an eating disorder, have a history of disordered eating, or believe that you may be developing an eating disorder, consult a qualified healthcare professional before using meal-planning, calorie, weight, or dietary-restriction features.

Do not use the Service in a way that encourages unsafe restriction, purging, compulsive tracking, or other harmful behavior.

13. Free Access and Daily Credits

cook compass may provide users with a limited amount of free credits each day. The number of free credits and the features available without payment may be displayed within the Service and may change from time to time.

Daily free credits:

do not require a payment method;
are not a free trial of a paid subscription;
have no cash value;
may not be transferred or sold; and
do not accumulate or carry over unless the Service expressly states otherwise.

We may reasonably modify or discontinue the free tier or daily free-credit allowance. Changes to free access will not result in a charge unless you separately and expressly purchase a paid subscription.

14. Paid Subscriptions

cook compass offers the following paid subscription plans:

Pro — Monthly

Price: USD $5.99, plus applicable taxes
Billing period: One month
Included credits: 3,000 credits per monthly credit period
Renewal: Automatically renews each month unless cancelled

Pro — Annual

Price: USD $49.99, plus applicable taxes
Billing period: One year
Included credits: 3,000 credits per monthly credit period
Payment: The full annual price is charged at the beginning of each annual billing period
Renewal: Automatically renews each year unless cancelled

Ultimate — Monthly

Price: USD $11.99, plus applicable taxes
Billing period: One month
Included credits: 6,000 credits per monthly credit period
Renewal: Automatically renews each month unless cancelled

Ultimate — Annual

Price: USD $99.99, plus applicable taxes
Billing period: One year
Included credits: 6,000 credits per monthly credit period
Payment: The full annual price is charged at the beginning of each annual billing period
Renewal: Automatically renews each year unless cancelled

The applicable plan, price, billing period, credit allowance, and renewal terms will also be displayed before you complete your purchase.

Prices do not include taxes. Applicable sales tax, VAT, GST, or other transaction taxes may be added at checkout based on your location and the transaction.

15. Credits

Credits allow you to access eligible features of the Service. The number of credits required for a particular feature may be shown within the Service.

Subscription credits:

are issued for the applicable credit period;
do not carry over into a later credit period;
have no cash value;
may not be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash; and
cannot be used after they expire.

If you cancel, your remaining subscription credits may be used until the end of your current paid billing period. Any unused credits expire immediately after that billing period ends, meaning they will no longer be available beginning on the following day.

Refunds for unused credits are available only as described in Section 19 or where required by applicable law.

16. Automatic Renewal

Paid subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled.

By purchasing a subscription, you authorize the payment provider identified at checkout to charge the applicable subscription price and taxes to your selected payment method:

each month for a Monthly Plan; or
each year for an Annual Plan.

The renewal charge will ordinarily occur on or around the corresponding date on which your paid subscription began. Processing times and calendar differences may cause the transaction date to vary slightly.

You must cancel before the next renewal charge is processed to avoid being charged for the next billing period.

If applicable law requires a renewal reminder or additional notice, it will be provided in accordance with that law.

17. Cancelling a Subscription

You may cancel your subscription through:

Account menu → Credits & Subscription → Cancel subscription

Depending on the payment provider used for your purchase, you may also be redirected to that provider’s subscription-management portal.

Cancelling your subscription:

prevents the subscription from renewing for another billing period;
does not normally end access immediately;
allows you to continue using paid features and remaining credits until the end of the current paid billing period; and
does not automatically provide a refund for the current billing period.

You should retain the cancellation confirmation for your records. If the self-service cancellation function is unavailable, contact us promptly at support@cookcompassai.com.

These rules do not limit cancellation or refund rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

18. Payment Providers

Payments may be processed by Creem, Stripe, or another payment provider identified at checkout.

Depending on the provider and transaction, the payment provider may act as a payment processor, merchant of record, contractual reseller, billing provider, or tax-collection provider. The applicable checkout page and receipt will identify the payment arrangements for your purchase.

For transactions where Creem acts as merchant of record, Creem may process the payment and administer applicable invoicing, taxes, refunds, subscription records, or chargebacks.

Your payment may also be subject to the payment provider’s applicable buyer or payment terms. Those terms do not limit any consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

You agree to provide valid and accurate payment information. Do not send complete payment-card details to our support email.

If a payment fails, your payment provider may retry the authorized charge. We may suspend paid access if the applicable subscription charge remains unpaid, but we will not charge more than the amount you authorized without obtaining any additional authorization required by law.

19. Voluntary Seven-Day Refund Policy

In addition to any refund rights provided by applicable law, we offer one voluntary refund for a user’s first paid subscription purchase.

You are eligible for a full refund if:

you request the refund within seven calendar days after your first paid subscription charge;
you have used less than 20% of the credits included in that subscription; and
you have generated no more than 10 AI dish photos during that period.

The first paid charge made after using the free tier qualifies as the first paid subscription charge.

The voluntary refund is available only once per user and account. Cancelling and later purchasing another subscription, changing plans, creating another account, or using another payment method does not create a new eligibility period. This restriction is intended to prevent abuse of the voluntary refund program.

Renewal charges and later subscription purchases are not eligible under this voluntary policy unless we expressly agree otherwise.

To request a refund, email support@cookcompassai.com from the email address associated with your account. You may provide a reason, but providing one is optional.

Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method through the applicable payment provider. The time required for the refund to appear depends on the payment provider and your financial institution.

This voluntary policy does not restrict refunds, cancellation remedies, withdrawal rights, or other consumer rights required by applicable law. Where mandatory law gives you more favorable rights, those rights take priority.

20. Price Changes

We may change subscription prices in the future.

A price change will not retroactively change the price for a billing period that has already been paid. Before charging a new price for a future renewal, we will provide any advance notice required by applicable law and obtain additional consent where legally required.

If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel before the new price applies.

21. Your Uploads

The Service may allow you to submit prompts, text, images, ingredient information, preferences, feedback, and other materials (“User Content”).

You retain any ownership rights you have in your User Content.

You grant cook compass a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, process, adapt, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to:

operate and provide the Service;
generate the output you request;
maintain security and prevent abuse;
troubleshoot technical problems;
respond to your support requests; and
comply with applicable law.

This license does not permit cook compass to sell your User Content or use it in advertising without additional permission.

We do not use User Content to train or fine-tune AI models.

The license ends when your User Content is deleted from our active systems, except to the extent that limited retention is reasonably necessary for backups, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement of these Terms.

22. Your Responsibilities for User Content

You may upload User Content only if you have the legal right to use and provide it.

You must not upload:

content that infringes another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
confidential information belonging to another person without authorization;
another person’s health information without appropriate authorization;
illegal, abusive, threatening, exploitative, or deceptive content;
malicious code or material intended to interfere with the Service; or
an image of a child unless you are legally authorized to provide it.

You are responsible for your User Content and for the consequences of submitting it.

23. Permitted Use of AI Output

Subject to these Terms and applicable law, cook compass grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use AI Output for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

Unless we give you prior written permission, you may not:

sell, license, or commercially distribute AI Output;
use AI Output in a paid product or service;
publish AI Output as professional medical or nutrition advice;
falsely represent that AI Output was reviewed or approved by a doctor, dietitian, or regulatory authority; or
use AI Output in a way that infringes another person’s rights.

You may save, print, or share AI Output with family or friends for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided that you do not remove applicable notices or make misleading health claims.

24. AI Output May Not Be Exclusive

AI systems may generate the same or similar output for different users. You do not receive exclusive rights in AI Output.

We do not guarantee that:

AI Output qualifies for copyright or other intellectual-property protection;
you will own every part of AI Output under applicable law;
AI Output is unique or original; or
AI Output does not resemble third-party material.

Before publishing or otherwise using AI Output, you are responsible for checking whether your proposed use may infringe another person’s rights.

25. cook compass Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, interface, design, branding, databases, and content supplied by cook compass or its licensors, is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable right to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of the Service or cook compass branding to you.

26. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes;
provide false account or payment information;
share, sell, rent, or transfer your account;
create multiple accounts to obtain repeated free credits or refunds;
manipulate credit usage or subscription eligibility;
bypass access, payment, credit, or security controls;
use bots, scripts, scraping tools, or other automated systems to access the Service without permission;
overload, disrupt, damage, or interfere with the Service;
introduce malware or harmful code;
attempt to obtain unauthorized access to an account, system, or network;
reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to discover the source code or underlying systems, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
copy or commercially exploit the Service;
use the Service or its output to train, develop, or benchmark a competing AI product without written permission;
impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation;
use AI Output to make deceptive medical, nutrition, or health claims; or
encourage another person to violate these Terms.

27. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service may rely on or link to third-party services, including payment providers, AI technology providers, cloud-hosting providers, and external websites.

Third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for an independent third party’s content or conduct merely because the Service links to or integrates with it.

This section does not limit responsibility that applicable law places on us for our selection, instructions, or use of a service provider.

28. Feedback

If you voluntarily provide suggestions or feedback about the Service, you grant us permission to use that feedback to operate and improve cook compass without payment or attribution to you.

This does not give us ownership of your private prompts, uploads, or other User Content.

29. Service Availability and Changes

We work to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

The Service may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, updates, security incidents, network failures, third-party services, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We may add, modify, restrict, or remove features where reasonably necessary to improve the Service, respond to security or legal requirements, or maintain technical performance.

If we permanently discontinue a material prepaid service, we will provide any refund or alternative remedy required by applicable law.

30. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. Cancelling a paid subscription is governed by Sections 17 and 19.

We may suspend or terminate an account if we reasonably believe that:

you materially or repeatedly violated these Terms;
your use creates a security, legal, or safety risk;
you engaged in fraud, payment abuse, or refund abuse;
a payment remains unpaid;
your account was used without authorization; or
suspension or termination is required by law.

Where reasonably possible and appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. We may act immediately where necessary to prevent harm, fraud, security threats, or illegal activity.

If we terminate a paid account without cause and you have prepaid for future access, we will provide any proportionate refund or other remedy required by applicable law. No refund is owed where termination results from your material breach, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.

31. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that the Service or AI Output will:

always be available or uninterrupted;
be free of mistakes, harmful suggestions, or technical defects;
meet every dietary, religious, nutritional, or personal requirement; or
achieve weight loss, muscle gain, health improvement, or any other particular result.

Results vary between individuals. No statement in the Service should be interpreted as a guarantee of a particular health, nutrition, or lifestyle outcome.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, consumer guarantees, or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

32. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
intentional or wilful misconduct;
gross negligence where it cannot legally be limited;
death or personal injury caused by negligence where liability cannot legally be limited;
violation of mandatory consumer rights; or
any other liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit.

To the extent permitted by law, cook compass will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these Terms.

To the extent permitted by law, cook compass’s total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of:

the amount you paid to cook compass for the Service during the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim; or
USD $100.

These limitations apply only to the extent that they are lawful and fair in the relevant circumstances. They do not restrict mandatory remedies available under applicable consumer law.

33. Responsibility for Misuse

If your unlawful User Content or deliberate misuse of the Service causes a third party to bring a claim against cook compass, you are responsible for the reasonably foreseeable losses caused by your conduct, to the extent permitted by law.

This section does not require a consumer to compensate cook compass for losses caused by cook compass’s own negligence, breach of these Terms, or unlawful conduct.

34. Consumer Rights

You may have mandatory rights under the laws that apply where you live. These may include rights relating to:

digital services and digital content;
automatic renewal;
cancellation and withdrawal;
refunds and remedies for defective services;
unfair contract terms;
statutory warranties or consumer guarantees; and
privacy and data protection.

Nothing in these Terms waives or restricts rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

In particular:

United States consumers retain applicable federal and state consumer-protection and automatic-renewal rights.
European Union consumers retain applicable mandatory rights concerning distance contracts, digital services, withdrawal, conformity, remedies, and unfair terms.
United Kingdom consumers retain applicable rights relating to digital content, consumer contracts, cancellation, and unfair terms.
Canadian consumers retain applicable federal and provincial consumer rights.
Australian consumers retain consumer guarantees and remedies that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

35. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security requirements, or business operations.

If a change materially affects an existing paid subscription or reduces your contractual rights, we will provide reasonable advance notice by email, through the Service, or by another appropriate method.

Where applicable law requires your consent to a change, we will request that consent. A change will not retroactively alter a completed transaction unless the law permits it and appropriate notice or consent is provided.

The “Last Updated” date at the top identifies the latest version.

36. Events Outside Reasonable Control

Neither you nor cook compass will be responsible for a delay or failure caused by events outside reasonable control, such as natural disasters, widespread network failures, government action, labor disruptions, war, or failure of essential third-party infrastructure.

This section does not remove refund rights or other remedies required by applicable law.

37. General Terms

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. Any unenforceable provision will be interpreted as narrowly as necessary to make it enforceable where the law permits.

A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

These Terms, together with the policies and checkout disclosures expressly incorporated into them, constitute the agreement concerning your use of the Service.

If a checkout disclosure conflicts with these Terms regarding the specific price, billing period, credits, or payment provider applicable to your purchase, the clear disclosure presented and accepted at checkout will control for that transaction, subject to applicable law.

We may transfer our rights and obligations in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of the Service, provided that the transfer does not reduce your mandatory consumer rights. You may not transfer your account or obligations without our permission.
